Ο Νεαρος Alex βρισκεται σε αναμονη της εγκρισης ή απορριψης του φοιτητικου του δανειου που θα τον στειλει φοιτητη μακρια απο τη μαμα του.
Κατα τα αλλα αργοσχολος & εθισμενος στα βιντεοπαιχνιδια ζει με τη μαμα σε ενα καμπινγκ οπου εκεινη εργαζεται ως η υπευθυνη.
Ολη μερα ασχολειται με το starfighter ενα videogame που βρισκεται εκει γυρω (εχει ομως και μια φιλεναδιτσα).
Πολυ γρηγορα ο νεαρος Alex γινεται ο καλυτερος ολων !!!!!.
Τα ασχημα νεα ομως δεν αργουν , η αιτηση για δανειο απορριπτεται και ο Αlex νοιωθει εγκλωβισμενος μιας και η προοπτικη να μεινει για παντα με τη μαμα του δεν του αρεσει και τοσο.
Η ευκαιρια του ομως δεν αργει , ενα βραδυ ερχεται να τον συναντησει ο Centauri , που συστηνεται ως ο εφευρετης του παιχνιδιου.
Τον καλει στο αυτοκινητο του , οπου και μετα απο λιγη ωρα ο Alex συνηδητοποιει οτι δεν ειναι ενα απλο αυτοκινητο αλλα ενα διαστημοπλοιο και ο Centauri δεν ειναι ανθρωπος αλλα εξωγηινος μεταμφιεσμενος σε ανθρωπο.
Ο Centauri ταξιδευει τον Alex στον πλανητη Rylos , και του αποκαλυπτει οτι το παιχνιδι δεν ειναι απλο παιχνιδι αλλα το μεσο που ανακαλυψαν οι εξωγηινοι για να εντοπιζουν καλους μαχητες σε ολο το γαλαξια , και τους στρατολογουν για να βοηθησουν στον πολεμο που εχουν εναντια στην αυτοκρατορια Ko-Dan....

Απο τα πρωτα φιλμ που χρησιμοποιηθηκε CGI για τα ειδικα εφφε
Δημιουργηθηκαν σε εναν Cray X-MP , 27 λεπτα πρωτογνωρο νουμερο για την εποχη , στοιχισαν 14εκ.$ οταν η ταινια εβγαλε 21εκ.$
Το αυτοκινητο του Centauri ειναι μια πειραγμενη delorian (!!!) , που επισης κανει μια εμφανιση και στο Back to the future II

Ο Howard (μια πάπια) ζει σε μια παπιόπολη, που μοιάζει πάρα πολύ με αυτές του δικού μας κόσμου- γυρίζει κουρασμένος από τη δουλειά, διαβάζει περιοδικά όπως το Rolling Egg ή το Playduck (η Miss October είναι η πιο σέξι πάπια που έχετε δει ποτέ) και βλέπει στην τηλεόραση διαφημίσεις για προϊόντα εναντίον του feather fungus. Η ζωή γίνεται βάρος ακόμα και για τα πουλερικά, από ότι φαίνεται. Ευτυχώς για τον Howard, η ζωή του θα πάρει μια διασκεδαστική (…) τροπή όταν η πολυθρόνα του ρουφηχτεί μέσα σε μια wormhole από μια μυστηριώδη ακτίνα, στέλνοντας την άμοιρη πάπια σε ένα από τα εκατοντάδες υπάρχοντα σύμπαντα- το δικό μας.

Star Trek: The Original Series (1966-1969)

Το Star Trek (Τhe Original Series), δημιουργία του Gene Roddenberry, που προβλήθηκε το 1966-1969 αποτελεί την αφετηρία για 4 ακόμα σειρές (5 αν μετρήσουμε και το αντίστοιχο cartoon, με την πλειοψηφία του αρχικού cast να δίνει τις φωνές στους χαρακτήρες) κι 11 ταινίες.

Το TOS προβλήθηκε μόνο για 3 σεζόν και κόπηκε απότομα χωρίς ποτέ να προβληθεί κάποιο series finale. Tα special effects που χρησιμοποιούνται στη σειρά, τη σήμερον μπορούν να αναπαραχθούν και στο σπίτι, αυτό, όμως, λέει πολλά για τους παραγωγούς, τη φαντασία τους και τις συνθήκες κάτω απ' τις οποίες γυριζόταν η σειρά.

Βρισκόμαστε στον 23ο αιώνα μ.Χ.. Η Γη, πλέον, συμμετέχει στην Ομοσπονδία Ενωμένων Πλανητών (United Federation of Planets) και συμβιώνει ειρηνικά με τα άλλα μέλη της Ομοσπονδίας, εξωγήινους που κατοικούν σε διάφορους πλανήτες του Α’ Τεταρτημορίου (Alpha Quadrant) του Γαλαξία μας. Έτσι, η σειρά περιλαμβάνει, όπως αναφέρεται και στους τίτλους αρχής, τα ταξίδια του διαστημοπλοίου Enterprise (no A, B, C or bloody D!) και τις περιπέτειες που το ακολουθούν ή για την ακρίβεια το κυνηγάνε! Με διοικητή του τον James Tiberius Kirk (William Shatner –ναι, ο Denny Crane… από τότε το ‘χε… ), και ύπαρχο τον μισό άνθρωπο, μισό Βουλκάνιο (half human, half Vulcan) κο Spock κατευθύνονται προς μέρη όπου ποτέ δεν έχει πατήσει ανθρώπινο πόδι.

Άλλη μία θρυλική πλέον σειρά της ελληνικής τηλεόρασης επιστρέφει για να μας γυρίσει ξανά στις υπέροχες και πρωτοποριακές σειρές των δεκαετιών 70 και 80.Και αυτήν την σειρά βέβαια έψαξα αρκετούτσικα για να την βρω αλλά πιστεύω πως το τελικό αποτέλεσμα μετράει. Για μιά ακόμα φορά καλές προβολές..

What is Freestyle? In order to answer that question you'd have to go back as far as the death of Disco back in the early 80's. Disco was Pop music in the late 70's and one of the biggest radio stations in the country was Disco 92 (WKTU-FM) in New York. Disco 92's core audience was made up primarily of Hispanics and Italian Americans. When Disco faltered in the early 80's, so did WKTU's ratings. In a move to bolster their sagging ratings, WKTU changed their format (and eventually their call letters) to a more mainstream pop format and eventually to rock. Another station cross-town, WXLO (99X) also was changing its format. By 1981, 99X changed to 98.7 KISS-FM, an urban station hoping to chip away at WBLS' stronghold on New York's African American audience. In 1983, WHTZ (Z100) went on the air to take on WPLJ for the mainstream, primarily white audience abandoned by WKTU. Through all these format changes, one demographic - the huge Hispanic audience in New York went - overlooked. Most Latins opted for KISS-FM and WBLS, who did play the occasional club record, but other Latins found an alternative to hear new music. They went underground.

In 1982, when Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force released "Planet Rock" a new sound was born. Some called it "hip-hop be-bop" or breakdancing music. While most of the neighborhood clubs were steadily closing their doors for good, some Manhattan clubs were suddenly thriving. Places like the Roxy, the Funhouse, Broadway 96, Gothams West, and Roseland who played this new sound were packed. Records like "Play At Your Own Risk" by Planet Patrol, "One More Shot" by C-Bank, "Numbers" by Kraftwerk, "Al-Naafiyish (The Soul)" by Hashim and "I.O.U." by Freeze became huge hits in New York. Some producers wisely copied the sound and made songs that were more melodic. Records like "I Remember What You Like" by Jenny Burton, and "Let The Music Play" and "Give Me Tonight" by Shannon were all over New York radio. Many of these performers performed at the Funhouse and Roseland to packed dance floors. The people packing these dance floors were young Latins, mainly Puerto Rican. The D.J.'s who played the music, (i e. Jellybean, Tony Torres, Raul Soto. Roman Ricardo, etc.) were also Hispanic. However, those on stage performing these songs were not, neither were most of the producers making the music.

There were exceptions. In 1984, Nayobe released her first single "Please Don't Go." Nayobe, a Cuban American who was sixteen years old when she recorded the song, was the discovery of Andy Panda who co-produced and co-wrote the song "Please Don't Go" became an instant club classic and served as a bridge between the Shannonesque records that were flooding the market and the sound that developed the following year - Latin Hip-Hop. This was also true of Jellybean's remake of the classic "The Mexican." The single that many consider the first true Latin Hip-Hop record was Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam's "I Wonder If I Take You Home." The song was originally signed to Personal Records in New York and not released in the U.S. It was licensed to CBS Records in England and became a big club record on import. The response the record received from the Latin Hip-Hop clubs led Columbia Records to pick up the single for U S release where it became an anthem for teen-age girls. The song reached #34 on the Pop charts in August of 1985 and Lisa Lisa became a role model for young Hispanics all over her hometown of New York.

It was also 1985 when I discovered three young Puerto Rican teens named Tony, Kayel and Aby - TKA. Kayel came to Tommy Boy Records, where I worked at the time, with rap demos, but I turned them all down. When he told me he could also sing, I agreed to go to a performance at a sweet sixteen party in the basement of a church in East Harlem. It was there I first heard "Scars of Love," a song Kayel wrote that they would perform over the instrumentals of the biggest rap tracks of the moment. When I saw the reaction of the largely Latin crowd of kids, I knew I had to do something to get them signed. It was at this party that I also met the Latin Rascals - Tony Moran and Albert Cabrera, whose names I knew from their editing work on Arthur Baker and John Robie productions and their D.J. work on WKTU and KISS-FM. We went into the studio and recorded a rough version of "Scars Of Love." By summer of that year TKA had begun to build a following in New York performing the song for free wherever someone would let them, such as radio station events and benefit concerts. Word of mouth finally reached Tommy Boy Records who decided to sign the group. Although we had recorded a rough version of "Scars Of Love," we felt it needed reworking and decided to record a new song to be TKA's first single.

At the same time, Andy Panda was working on a new girl group he envisioned as being a Latin version of the Supremes. The group was the Cover Girls. He and the Latin Rascals produced a demo for the group and began working on a stage show for the girls. Andy and I were Iooking for the same thing; a group that Hispanics could look up to and feel represented by.

On August 2, 1985, a club called the Devil's Nest opened its doors on the corner of Webster and Tremont Avenues in the Bronx. The club was originally intended to be a salsa club but the turnout was very light and the club owner, Sal Abbatiello, knew he had to think fast to keep the club alive. After a visit to a Manhattan club called Inferno which was packing in a large Latin teen crowd, he decided he should try to make Inferno's formula work in the Bronx. In order to succeed, he needed the right D J., the most popular new D J. on the street, to draw the crowd to the Devil's Nest. He heard about a young Puerto Rican D.J. who didn't play in clubs because he was too young, but when he played at local street jams, crowds followed him. The D.J. was Little Louie Vega. Two weeks later the Devil's Nest booked Expose, hired Little Louie, and Sal crossed his fingers. Luck he didn't need. The combination of Little Louie's following and the popularity of Exposι's hits "Point Of No Return" and "Exposed To Love" paid off. The club was packed and stayed packed week after week.

Little Louie started playing "Show Me" by the Cover Girls and "One Way Love" by TKA on demo reels. They soon became Louie's biggest records even before they were officially released. On March 1, 1986, one week after the release of "One Way Love," TKA performed at the Devil's Nest. The club was packed with kids waiting to see who sang the record that they had heard in the club for weeks. When TKA walked on stage, the crowd went crazy. In all honesty, the show was rough around the edges, but the crowd loved them. They were happy to see one of their own on stage. TKA wound up repeating their entire show twice that night.

The same response greeted the Cover Girls at their first performance at the Devil's Nest. Dressed in sequined gowns, Caroline Jackson, Sunshine Wright and then lead singer Angel Sabater nervously took to the stage to perform "Show Me" for the first time. By the first few notes of the intro to the song, the crowd was screaming and pushing to the stage to get a closer look at the Cover Girls. By the song's end, the whole audience was singing the chorus and the Cover Girls, no longer nervous, exuded the confidence of twenty-year veterans of the business. To the Devil's Nest, they were the Supremes - their Supremes. Although Freestyle was not conceived at the Devil's Nest, this is where it was born.

By the spring of 1986, Freestyle was exploding in New York clubs. New York radio however, was not impressed. Nor were radio stations around the country. With the exception of HOT 105 in Miami, and Power 106 in Los Angeles, who made the first singles by TKA, Nayobe, and Expose #1 hits in South Florida and Southern California respectively, radio station program directors ignored Freestyle.

Power 106 (KPWR) and Hot 105 (WQHT) were pioneers of a new type of station that were starting up in early 1986 - crossover radio. These were CHR stations that leaned heavily toward Dance music. The target audience for Power 106 and Hot 105 was the large English-speaking Latin population of these two cities. The success of those stations brought attention to the large hole left in New York radio when WKTU signed off the air three years earlier. On August 13, 1986, WAPW, a fledgling CHR station in New York, changed its call letters to WQHT and switched its format to that of its sister station in L.A. (Power 106). WQHT (Hot 103) began playing much of the hits by TKA, Sweet Sensation, and Expose in the same rotation as Pop superstars like Michael Jackson and Madonna. Freestyle tracks like TKA's "One Way Love" and Sweet Sensation's "Hooked On You" received new life and the success of these tracks as well as the just- released "Show Me" by the Cover Girls helped get them added to stations around the country. Freestyle was now getting national attention.

Despite the renewed interest in the older Freestyle tracks, these artists were already releasing their follow-up singles. In the fall of 1986, Sweet Sensation released "Victim of Love" and TKA released "Come Get My Love," a raw, more club-oriented and less pop sounding record than "One Way Love." It set the tone for a new crop of Freestyle records produced by Mickey Garcia and Elvin Molina that were released in late 1986 and early 1987, including "I Won't Stop Loving You" by C-Bank and Judy Torres' follow-up single "Come Into My Arms." Both of these tracks became huge hits in a new club called Heartthrob, which opened up in the old building that had housed the Funhouse. The owners of Heartthrob were able to convince Little Louie' Vega to leave the Devil's Nest to play at the new club. At around the same time a new club, 1018, opened a half a mile away and directly competed with Heartthrob, often outbidding each other for the exclusive performances of Freestyle artists. The demand for Freestyle was so great that both clubs prospered and the artists wound up performing at both clubs, often on the same night.

In early 1987, Sa-Fire also released her follow-up single, "Let Me Be The One." Like "Come Get My Love" from TKA, this song was a departure from the sound of her first single. It proved to be a welcome one as the song outperformed its predecessor in chart performance and sales.

The Cover Girls second single "Spring Love," again a departure for them, didn't fare as well. They were, however, able to bounce back in a major way with their third single. "Because Of You." The song, produced by Louie Vega and Robert Clivilles and written by David Cole before the latter two went on to become mega-producers with C&C Music Factory, became perhaps the favorite Cover Girl song of all. It reached #24 on the Pop charts and top 10 on the Dance charts in the spring of 1987 and propelled their debut album to nearly gold status.

"Like A Child" was the second single from Noel. "Silent Morning" was a tough act to follow, and although it did not match the success of "Silent Morning," it set the pace for his successful self-titled debut album. Joyce Simms, although not Hispanic, was enjoying the distinction of having the first Freestyle record to cross over into the R&B market with the classic "(You Are My) All and All." It was also one of the first Freestyle records to crack the European market.Although Freestyle was still in its early stages, it was fast becoming dance music for the 80s.

By the summer of 1987, WQHT (Hot 103) was on top of the ratings in New York, and it was their heavy emphasis on Dance music, especially Freestyle, that got them there. The success of Hot 103 broke down the walls for Freestyle at the mainstream station WHTZ (Z-100) in New York, which was one of the most influential Top 40 stations in the country at the time. When Z-100 started playing the biggest Freestyle hits happening on Hot 103, other mainstream stations around the country followed. Power 96 in Miami, whose playlist was loaded with the latest Freestyle tracks, rose to the top of the ratings in Miami, as did Power 106 in Los Angeles, following the same formula.

Soon after, another city - Chicago - came on board. Through the exposure of club D.J.'s and a college station called WCRX at Columbia College, Freestyle began making noise in the Windy City. Clubs like the Riviera and venues like the Navy Pier Ballroom began throwing Freestyle jams with performances by Sa-Fire, TKA, and the Cover Girls.

In June of 1987, TKA released their third straight hit single, "Scars Of Love," the title track from their first album. The album would go on to become a Freestyle classic, spawning six hit singles. The fourth single, "Tears May Fall," was played as an instrumental on a bootleg tape in clubs for over a year before it was released in November 1987. This streak of hit singles earned them their title "Kings of Freestyle."

The fight for the title of "Queens of Freestyle" was more competitive. The Cover Girls' third single was the ballad "Promise Me," another hit for them. "Inside Outside," their fourth and final single from the hugely successful "Show Me" album brought them back to the clubs in a big way and continued their hit streak. But the abundance of female artists in Freestyle as well as the fact that the Cover Girls would be taking time off to record their second album, left the door wide open for someone to step in and swipe their title.

India, whose real name is Linda Bell Caballero, made brief appearances with TKA in their early shows. Although she never sang on any of their singles, she did record a version of "Dancing on the Fire" with TKA and performed it at a few of their shows. When India decided to record on her own, she took the idea to remake Jellybean's "Dancing on the Fire" with her. Jellybean, reproduced the track (without TKA) and released it as her first single.

Nayobe, along with India, was one of the most gifted female vocalists in Freestyle. She proved this with her slamming performance on her fourth single, "Second Chance for Love."

Corina began her successful career in Freestyle with the song "Out of Control," which was also the first hit to producer Carlos Berrios. Tina B., then the wife of producer Arthur Baker, returned to the music scene with "January February." Tina had a big hit a couple of years earlier with "Honey to a Bee," an electro-hip-hop classic.

Debbie Harry, formerly of the 70's and 80's new wave band Blondie, who is probably as far from a Freestyle artist as you can get, came up with one of the biggest cult-classic Freestyle records ever with "In Love With Love," thanks to the additional production and remix by two also unlikely Freestylers, Justin Strauss and Murray Elias. They took an otherwise tired pop dance record and turned it into a moody yet slammin' Freestyle club jam.

Another big Freestyle club record that came from an unlikely source was "Arabian Nights" by the Latin Rascals. The track was taken from the "Bach to the Future" album, an album of classical pieces set to dance music. The song was originally an instrumental, but when the track received extensive club play, the Latin Rascals re-recorded the song with vocals and released it, making it the first song recorded by the Latin Rascals as artists. They had already made a name for themselves as one of the busiest producers and remixing teams in Freestyle, producing cuts for the Cover Girls, Sa-Fire and TKA among others.

This period in Freestyle saw many artists developing their own style and sound, although most of the hits were being produced and performed by the same handful of people who originated the sound of Freestyle. The floodgates, however, would open in the coming year, as many artists and labels jumped on the Freestyle bandwagon.

In late 1987 and early 1988, major labels jumped on the Freestyle bandwagon. Virtually any Freestyle record that received airplay on Power 96 in Miami, or on Hot 103 in New York was picked up by a major label. Sa-Fire signed to Mercury. India to Reprise, Sweet Sensation and Corina to Atco, Cover Girls to Capitol, and TKA's next album, although on Tommy Boy, was distributed through Warner Bros.

Meanwhile in South Florida, the "Miami sound" was also garnering attention from major labels. Company B, Stevie B, Linear, Will to Power, and Exposι's later hits defined this form. Many labels confused New York Freestyle and Miami Freestyle, thinking they had the same audience. They thought their promotional strategy would work for both genres, which resulted in skipping the all too important step of cultivating a record at the street and club level before going to radio. This often led to poor results for the New York-based Freestyle. New York Freestyle, even in its most polished forms, retained a raw edge and underground sound, using minor chords that made the tracks darker and more moody. The lyrics also tended to be about unrequited love or other more somber themes, dealing with the reality of what inner city teens were experiencing emotionally.

Miami records on the other hand, tended to be more optimistic, using major chords similar to those used in early disco giving them a more upbeat sound. This is probably why the Miami records fared better at mainstream Pop radio than New York Freestyle. Some Miami artists like Stevie B, after doing their first shows in the New York market, saw the difference and began using the Miami sound combined with New York Freestyle, often with successful results.

Also in early 1988, Louie Vega moved to yet another new club. The old Studio 54, the most famous club of the Disco era, reopened as the new main club for Freestyle. Roman Ricardo, meanwhile, continued to D.J. at 1018 while Baby J was the D.J. at Roseland. All three clubs remained packed. Other D.J.'s in New York who were instrumental in breaking Freestyle at this time were Juan Kato at L'Amour East, Scott Blackwell at 4-D, and Gungie Rivera at La Mirage and Chez Sensual. These D.J.'s were important because whatever Freestyle records became big for them, were usually the next Freestyle records that would make it to Pop radio across the country. However, this was not always the case. Two records stand out as songs that were huge hits in clubs, and favorites of true Freestyle fans, but were somehow overlooked by radio. These were "Don't Take Your Love Away" by Lydia Lee Love and 'You'll Never Find Another Love" by & More.

"Mirage" by Jellybean featuring India was Jellybean's return to his roots as a D.J. at the Funhouse. After two Pop offerings from his 'Just Visiting the Planet' album, Jellybean wanted to tap into the fans he had made with "The Mexican." "Mirage" is a totally re-recorded song with India on vocals, and was the B-side to the 12" of "Just a Mirage."

Sa-Fire followed two previous hit singles with "Boy I've Been Told," her first outing for Mercury Records and her first big Pop hit. Sweet Sensation released "Never Let You Go," their biggest club hit. Judy Torres returned to her trademark sound after the disappointing response to her previous single - the Pop radio-minded 'Love Story." The comeback, "Love You Will You Love Me" was exactly what the fans wanted and put her back into the spotlight. TKA made it six in a row with "Don't Be Afraid" the final single from the "Scars of Love" album. The track had been played in clubs for months as an album cut, and Tommy Boy had intended to only release it promotionally to clubs. However due to the club response, a few radio stations picked it up and Tommy Boy eventually released it on 12' commercially.

In the spring of 1988 Cynthia, from East Harlem in New York City, released her first hit single, "Change On Me." It would be the first of many hit singles she would release that would make her one of the biggest selling solo female singers in Freestyle and one of Freestyle's most popular female performing artists.

By 1989, Freestyle was at its peak. That year saw many established Freestyle acts releasing new quality releases as well as many promising new artists releasing their first singles. One of the best of the new crop of artists was George Lamond. Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in the Bronx, George's first love was graphic arts but after numerous amateur performances at local talent shows and hanging out in the Freestyle clubs around New York, George knew he wanted to be a singer. His first single, "Bad Of The Heart," was originally released on the independent label Ligosa Records, with the artist credited as Loose Touch, of which George Lamond was the lead singer. The song did well in its first release but Ligosa, being a small independent label, lacked the resources to give the record the exposure it deserved. The owners of the label, Mark Liggett and Chris Barbosa, who were also the producers of the song, decided to shop George to a major label. Columbia Records signed George and released "Without You," his second single. Columbia Records then re-released "Bad Of The Heart," now with the artist credited as simply George Lamond and the song became a smash reaching the Top 30 on the Pop charts. George became an instant favorite among Freestyle fans with his powerful voice and energetic performances.

Another artist who made another impressive debut was Coro with "Where Are You Tonight." Coro, who had spent the previous few years in the Stevie B. camp in Florida, relocated to New York and signed to Cutting Records. Despite the amount of time he spent in Miami, the influence on his music was definitely New York. The success of "Where Are You Tonight" prompted yet another major label, Virgin, to pick up its first Freestyle artist from an independent label.

Freestyle favorites Sa-Fire, TKA, The Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation and Cynthia continued their hit streaks in the summer of '89. "Love Is On Her Mind" (The Latin Rascal Remix) was Sa-Fire's follow-up to the Top 20 smash "Thinking Of You," her first ballad. Sadly, her record company, Mercury, decided not to work the song at radio, but many of the stations that supported her previous songs made the record a moderate hit for her. "You Are The One" by TKA was from the motion picture "Lean On Me." The soundtrack, which was released by Warner Bros., never took off, nor did the movie. However, a few key stations discovered the song months later and Tommy Boy released it on 12". It eventually became one of TKA's biggest Pop hits up to that time, and also appeared on their second album, "Louder Than Love."

"Take It While It's Hot" was the title track to Sweet Sensation's highly successful debut album. Of the eight cuts on the album, five were released as singles. The Covers Girls' second album marked their debut on Capitol Records. Their first single for their new label, "My Heart Skips A Beat," reunited the Girls with the producer and writer of their smash "Because Of You"- Robert Clivilles and David Cole respectively. The results were just as impressive as their first pairing. The record regained The Cover Girls' clout at Top 40 radio.

Tony Moran broke from his longtime partnership in The Latin Rascals to record an album for Cutting Records to showcase his production talents called "Concept Of One." The album featured familiar artists such as Noel and Brenda K. Starr as well as some newcomers. It also featured two songs with Tony on lead vocals. One of those songs, "Dance With Me," became his first hit as a solo artist.

Cynthia also returned that summer with "Dreamboy/Dreamgirl," a duet with labelmate Johnny 0. The song would become the biggest selling single for both artists. Pajama Party, yet another three-member, Latin female Freestyle group, had one of the biggest Freestyle hits of the summer with "Yo No Se." Ironically, it was the first and only Freestyle hit to date with a completely Spanish title.

Despite the great number of hits that summer, it was at about this time that the Freestyle backlash and downfall began. House music and rap were gaining in popularity and beginning to find slots on radio playlists. Crossover radio. which had achieved its primary goal to secure the listenership of the English-speaking Latin community, now was seeking to expand its audience. Hispanic artists were gradually being replaced by a wave of new Dance/Pop and R&B/Crossover groups such as Paula Abdul, Milli Vanilli, Bobby Brown and New Kids On The Block, all of whom were enjoying massive exposure on MTV. The success of these groups would play a key role in the downfall of many of Freestyle's biggest artists.

The period between the second half of 1989 and the beginning of 1991 were perhaps the worst of times for Freestyle. Crossover radio had found new stars in Paula Abdul, Milli Vanilli, New Kids On The Block, Bobby Brown and Hammer. These artists were successful not only on crossover stations but R&B stations as well. They also received massive exposure through video on MTV and BET. These slickly produced artists and videos now defined "crossover". For the first time crossover radio was breaking songs that their rival stations (R&B and Top 40) were also playing. Previously, an Urban record would first break at the R&B stations, then the crossover stations, then finally the Top 40 stations. Now, urban records by many established stars were simultaneously breaking at all three formats.

At the same time Freestyle had become a four-letter word. Freestyle producers looking to make a quick buck often recruited young Hispanics from clubs, regardless of talent, to record hastily put together songs and put them out on the track show club circuit. They figured even if only one station played the song, they could make a thousand dollars a night doing shows and split it with the artists. The splits usually favored the producer. A flood of horrible Freestyle records resulted that even the most devoted fan would be ashamed of. This only fueled the Freestyle bashing and downfall. Latin artists were now perceived as untalented street kids recording sappy love songs with overly used chord progressions and off-key vocals. Crossover radio became all too aware of this perception by their audience and responded by gradually eliminating Freestyle from their playlists.

This seriously hurt the more established Freestyle artists. Unfortunately, these artists responded by abandoning the Freestyle sound on their new singles, a move that would help seal Freestyle's fate. Artists such as TKA, Sa-Fire, Sweet Sensation and the Cover Girls, felt they needed to try to duplicate the sound that was now happening at radio and MTV in order to compete with pop music's new megastars. All of these artists released singles in 1990 that did find a new audience (in most cases, not a very large one) but totally alienated their core audience. TKA with "I Won't Give Up On You" and Sweet Sensation with "If Wishes Came True" actually achieved their highest charting pop singles with these tracks. However, R&B radio and more importantly MTV ignored their success. For the most part Freestyle's biggest stars were unable to move on to the next level with their new sound.

With the best artists abandoning the sound and new artists recording inferior tracks, Freestyle was all but over. Fortunately, TKA, playing it smart, had recorded two Freestyle tracks on the "Louder Than Love" album (the same album that contained "I Won't Give Up On You"). They were able to rebound by releasing these two tracks in 1991. The first release was "Give Your Love To Me". It was one of the first Freestyle records to use hip-hop loops.

Another artist that utilized hip-hop loops and almost single-handedly revived Freestyle was Lissette Melendez from East Harlem. "Together Forever" would define "new school" Freestyle. The track is exactly what Freestyle needed: a new sound without abandoning the elements that made a song Freestyle. The release of this single should have inspired Freestyle producers to experiment and try new ideas. Unfortunately it only inspired imitations, none of which would equal the vibe and energy of "Together Forever."

It was the flood of imitations that lead TKA to release something that was far from "new school" but certainly not old school. The song was "Louder Than Love," the title track from their second album It would become TKA's signature song and the biggest hit of their career. George Lamond followed up his smash "Bad Of The Heart" with two hit singles during Freestyle's rebound "Without You" and "Look Into My Eyes." All three songs were included on his hugely successful first album, "Bad Of the Heart." Coro also released his sophomore single "Can't Let You Go," which easily matched the success of his first single.

Three old school artists returned after long absences with new tracks. Noel's guest spot on the Concept of One album resulted in his first hit single in three years with "The Question." The Cover Girls released a double A-side single with "Don't Stop Now" and "Funk Boutique." Corina teamed up with the producer of "Together Forever" - Carlos Berrios - and came up with the highest charting Freestyle record on the Billboard Hot 100 to date. "Temptation" had a sound similar to that of "Together" but it was the songwriting of Frank Reyes that helped the record transcend the scores of Lissette Melendez imitations. After a near death experience, Freestyle seemed headed for a complete recovery.

With its sudden resurgence in 1991, Freestyle again seemed healthy and poised for a comeback. However, the comeback would be short-lived. In late 1992, Hot 97 in New York, Q102 in Philadelphia, Power 106 in Los Angeles and many other crossover stations completely pulled all Freestyle records from their playlists to move in a more Urban direction. These stations were responsible for more than half of a Freestyle record's potential sales. There were still a few stations playing Freestyle but not enough to make a song a national hit. Many major labels knew this all too well and began dropping Freestyle artists from their rosters.

Before the mass exodus of these stations, a few key releases sent Freestyle off with a bang.The Cover Girls released "Funk Boutique," the B-side of "Don't Stop Now." It would set them up for the release of their first album for Epic Records titled "Here lt Is." It was their third label in as many albums. The first official single from that album was the remake of the Rose Royce ballad "Wishing On A Star." Despite it being The Cover Girls biggest hit, they were dropped from the label a few months later.

Coro's third single, and the second released by Charisma Records, was "My Fallen Angel." It would also be the biggest hit of his career and ironically, he was dropped from his label soon after. He would continue to record under his original label Cutting Records. Corina followed up the highest charting Freestyle record ever ("Temptation") with the equally slammin "Whispers," only to be dropped by her label after just one follow-up single (the aptly titled -"Now That You're Gone").

Cynthia returned with "Love Me Tonight," her most street-oriented cut and the first single not produced with Mickey Garcia and Elvin Molina. Many felt this single was the change in direction she needed to compete with the "new school" sound that was emerging. It was also the last release for MicMac Records (not counting the re-release of older tracks from her first album). Cynthia was not dropped from her label but won a battle with her label to be released from her contract.

George Lamond released his second album, "In My Life" for Columbia Records. The first single from that album, "Where Does That Leave Love," proved just as popular as his previous releases. The follow up singles from that album "I Want You Back" and "Baby, I Believe In You," which were not Freestyle releases, did not fare as well. For months after, George's status at Columbia was on hold until he finally was released in 1993.

Aside from the veteran artists, a few new artists and two that had not been around for more than 5 years released hit singles in 1992. New artists Laura Enea and Nyasia released "This Is The Last Time" and "Who's Got Your Love," respectively. The tracks were heavily influenced by Lissette Melendez' trademark sound. Another artist who borrowed a little from that sound was Giggles with "What Goes Around, Comes Around," produced and written by Charlie Rock, the writer and producer of the Cynthia/Johnny O. duet "Dreamboy/Dreamgirl." It was the first big hit for her, since "Love Letter" back in 1986.

Lil Suzy's big hit "Take Me In Your Arms" was not her first single. "Randy," a song recorded when she was just seven years old was her first release on Fever Records. "Take Me In Your Arms" was recorded at the ripe old age of 15. Voyce, a Puerto Rican male trio from Brooklyn released "Within My Heart." The inevitable comparisons were made to TKA, but they proved themselves as performers in their own right. The song was produced by Carlos Berrios and Angel Lebron, one of the members of the group. The future of the group would have been more promising had they not come out at a time when Freestyle was in a tailspin.

1992 also saw the break-up of two of Freestyle's biggest groups. Sweet Sensation began the year by replacing members Margie and Sheila with three new members. The remaining original member Betty Lebron would again be the featured vocalist of the newly formed group. The new version of Sweet Sensation did a few shows but in the two and a half years since have not released any new material. It was thought that Betty would eventually go solo.

At the end of 1991, Tony, Kayel and Angel (TKA), despite coming off the biggest hit of their career "Louder Than Love," decided to part ways to record solo albums. They each wanted to try experimenting with new music but felt they could not do that as TKA. Their fans expected them to continue making the music they had for the previous seven years and the guys were unsure of how they would react to a new sound. There were also differences of opinion between the group about what direction that would be. The only solution was to do separate albums. They decided to continue doing shows while they prepared to record new albums and not announce that they were breaking up.

Kayel had begun recording his first solo album. He had about three songs completed when he felt that he did not want to end TKA without doing one more song. He went to the other guys with the idea of releasing a greatest hits compilation and including a new song. TKA's Greatest Hits was released in February of 1992 with 14 songs. It included all of their single releases, as well as "I Can't Help It," "Is It Love" and "Maria." "I Can't Help It" was a cut from the "Louder Than Love" album that got extensive play even though it was not released as a single. "Is It Love" was a duet with Tony Moran that was to be included on his first solo album that was never released. "Maria" was actually a song recorded for Kayel's solo album, but he decided to release it as the last song from TKA. The idea really paid off. The fans loved the album and "Maria" became a huge hit. The album itself actually outsold their first two studio albums. TKA's last performance together was on Oct. 11, 1992.

As 1992 came to an end, so did the Freestyle era. As with Disco in the seventies, Freestyle never truly died. Freestyle records continue to be released, just as dance records continue to flourish in different forms despite the "death of disco" in 1980. But the days of the Devil's Nest, Heartthrob, 1018 and the new Studio 54 are gone, just as the days of thee-piece suits. Saturday Night Fever and the old Studio 54 are gone. Disco and Freestyle captured a certain feeling that reflected the times they flourished in. They produced their own stars, their own dances and their own fashions. Most of all they produced songs that will bring back great memories for the people who experienced it. Hopefully the Freestyle classics included in this compilation will do that, and as with Disco, endure, and be discovered by new fans in the years to come.

Italo Disco refers to an entire genre of dance music that evolved mysteriously and very quickly during the early 80’s in Italy and other parts of Europe. Italo Disco music was and still is considered to be quite futuristic and spacey in regards to the massive effects created with the first generation of true synthesizers, drum machines, and vocoders. Twenty-five years later, Italo Disco music is experiencing a major renaissance in which deejay’s all over the world are spinning the original classics in much delight while others are making brand new music that sounds more like it was made in 1982. Compilations also pay tribute to the masterpieces. But what defines masterpieces? Is it musical charts? Is it standing the test of time? Or is it the songs that have become cherished at one point or another in the last 25 years? You decide! There is no true history of italo disco that replicates how it all evolved, however, we are about to tell you italo disco through our eyes and those of many other fans of the genre!

So.. it’s 2009 and deejay’s, clubbers, and electro fans of all ages are now looking to hear the original stuff that started it all. Forget about disco, synth-pop, and new wave - maybe they were factors in the evolution of modern dance music, but it was the 10,000+ Italo Disco artists who truly fused the arpeggio synth-hooks, electro beats, and chic 12″ cover art for the very first time. It’s now clear that many Italo Disco songs influenced the Chicago house scene, acid house, techno, and other early forms of dance and trance music. Much of today’s most lush electro music is clearly attributed directly to Italo Disco.

1975-1977

Emerging from Val Gardena, Italy, Mr. Giorgio Moroder begins to experiment on a new toy in the music world: an electronic synthesizer. He starts to create loops and synth-hooks using basic equipment from Moog and Korg. “The Chase” and the rest of the score for the 1978 film, Midnight Express made a permanent marking in the ears of young Italians who would later go on to create their own electronic music, eventually to be known as ‘Italo Disco’. Just a year or so earlier in 1976, it was the beginning of John Carpenter’s illustrious career as a moviemaker and composer of electronic music using excessive use of droids and drum machines. The original motion picture soundtrack to “Assault On Precinct 13” would go on to become a major influence for many Italians who realized the power of a drum machine, as heard in the opening theme of the movie. Around the same time, an Italian music group by the name of Goblin emerges and begins creating electronic-themed soundtracks for all of Dario Argento’s Italian horror films, setting up another major influence for early Italo Disco artists. Some of the more memorable and early scores were for the movies “Deep Red” and “Suspiria” (1976 and 1978, respectively). Goblin’s scores and Argento’s style would cause many other Italian movie directors to use electronic elements in their Giallo and horror-styled films - thus starting a new era for electronic music (the first being disco several years earlier). Eventually the dark sound of these scores would fuse with disco music and we’d reach Italo Disco. But first,

1977-78

Giorgio Moroder’s first full LP was released. “From Here To Eternity“, featuring the self-titled first single that became an instant success, was what started everything! This would go down as a pioneer album that would forever change electronic music. Less than a year later, “Chase” was released, becoming Giorgio’s biggest hit ever, once again strenghtening his appeal as a leader in the electronic department. Nearly simultaneously, Italian producer, Jean-Marc Cerrone releases a series of albums - the most famous being, “Supernature” and “Love In C Minor“. Simply outstanding work using a synthesizer would make Mr. Cerrone, a native of France become another major influence for all Italo Disco music to follow. Soon after Moroder and Cerrone hit the airwaves, the rest was history. Lucrethia & The Azoto 14,008 releases the “Dance Skinsation LP” to help jumpstart the Vedette Records label - leading the way for Italians to produce disco music. In 1978, La Bionda emerges with one of the songs many consider to be Italo Disco’s very first song: “One For You, One For Me“.

1978-1981

In late 1978, Black Devil, a very obscure act at the time from France, releases the “Disco Club LP“, which is now considered one of the greatest electronic pleasures of the late 70’s. Beautiful harmonies working solely with a synthesizer in real-time recording sessions make this album still in deman today! “Disco Fizz” by Azoto (working without the Lucrethia syntax) appeared in 1980, alongside Tantra’s “The Hills Of Katmandu” release. Both artists being Italian and leaning further away from the traditional disco beat and more towards a faster drumbeat using a drum machine, would later be known as two more pioneers of what would become Italo Disco! At the same time, on the newly formed Discomagic Records label, Sylvi Foster created “Love Dawn” and “If You Are Master” while Delanua makes a masterpiece called “Flood” - these songs being considered to this day the first true Italo Disco songs. Kano begins his long career with songs such as “I’m Ready” and “Holly Dolly“. in 1980, La Bionda would solidify their position as a major influence of Italo Disco music with their big hit entitled, “I Wanna Be Your Lover“.

1982

The Italo Disco scene was well under way by the time 1982 rolled in. Discomagic Records and Il Discotto Productions had both surfaced at this point and had started spawning off many sub-labels, each with their own distinguishable sounds. On Il Discotto, Jo Jo created the masterpiece track entitled, “Mind Games“, which fused R&B, electro, and disco all into one song, and Gary Low released his first single, “You Are A Danger” which took a synthesizer and piano and welded them together into one song. On the other end of the spectrum, Discomagic was beginning a long catalogue of records. The first big ones seemed to be “How Many Fill” by Delanua, “The Garden” and “Robot Is Systematic” by ‘Lectric Workers, and the club smash, “Hookey” by Sylvi Foster. ll Discotto Productions has a huge hit with “Tequila” by Bo Boss. “I Need Love” by Capricorn is released and considered a major accomplishment in electro dance. “Plastic Doll” by Dharma becomes a cult classic way ahead of its time! On Zanza Records, Klein & M.B.O. release “Dirty Talk“, and Pink Project debuts with “Disco Project” a cover version of Pink Floyd’s, “Another Brick In The Wall” becoming two of the biggest chart hits in Europe in all of 1982. Also released in ‘82 on Zanza Records was “Droid” by Mito, a song and artist that has developed quite a following since then. Kato, who would go on to become one of the most famous Italo artists ever, debuts with “Chinese Revenge“, a very spacey disco song. Bob Salton’s “Starknight” becomes a high energy Italo Disco hit. “Coda” by Amin Peck starts a long list of hits for this man. The Twins debut with “Face To Face - Heart To Heart” and would be back in 1983 with two more big singles (more on them later). The big accomplishment for electro fused to Italo Disco in 1982 would have to be “Bad Passion” by Steel Mind. Using male, female, and robot vocals all in one song, we hear what is more like a prelude to all future dance music. We won’t stress it any further, but this is to be considered one of the fundamental songs of Italo Disco! Marzio Dance debuts with some promising hits such as “The Adventure” and the early ‘83 followup release entitled, “Rap-O-Hush“. One of the most respectable songs of 1982 is “Life With You” by Expansives, a project by Franco Rago and Giorgio Farina who also produced “The Man From Colours” by Wanexa, all releases by the aforementioned ‘Lectric Workers, and also “Batida” by Cariocas, which hit the market in the end of 1982.

1983

The best year for Italo Disco music from a true Italo lover’s standpoint is without a doubt 1983! So many hits, so many memories. To get the ball rolling, the Mr. Disco Organization (a sub-label of Full Time Records) releases “Spacer Woman” by Charlie and becomes an immediate classic and the biggest song on the entire label. The House Of Music label also makes some waves with several masterpieces. First, B.W.H. releases a double single entitled, “Stop” / “Livin’ Up“, often considered to be the most well-crafted Italo Disco release ever made! Next release on the label: “A Dog In The Night” by Mr. Master becomes another major hit. However, it was the third release on House Of Music label that set the tone for the perfect song: “Cybernetic Love” by Casco, a vocoder and synthesizer masterpiece. We’re just scratching the surface with the big hits on the year! “Take A Chance” by Mr. Flagio features a heavily vocodized male voice and electro beats that are forever engraved in many Italo lovers heads. Il Discotto was the home of Doctor’s Cat and their debut song, “Feel The Drive“. Also on the same label was the first release by Brand Image entitled, “Are You Loving?” On the Italian Records label, Gaznevada releases “I.C. Love Affair” and N.O.I.A. releases “Stranger In A Strange Land” - two immediate classics. On the Fly Music label, “Shaker Shake” by Time is released, becoming an unforgettable classic with amazing synthesizer work that has since been unparalleled. At Discomagic, it was an absolutely huge year including the infamous song, “I’m Hungry” by Stopp, which displays one very phat bassline. Also, Samoa Park debuts with an Italo Disco version of Mike Oldfield’s famous “Tubular Bells” project. Ryan Paris creates the happy piano-esque tune called “Dolce Vita” which topped European charts. Tommy Bow’s “Dance Tonight” and Felli’s “Diamond In The Night” were two of Discomagic’s big songs of 1983. However, one of Discomagic’s best releases was “Orient Express” by Wish Key. Gary Low continued to emerge as a leader with his next single, “I Want You“, which has been sampled many times over the years, most recently by Miss Kittin. Gazebo makes a string of top hits all over European charts with “Masterpiece“, “I Like Chopin“, and “Lunatic“. Over at American Disco Records, Scotch releases “Penguin’s Invasion” and P. Lion releases “Happy Children“, two songs which top the European charts and lead to success on this record label. Also on the American Disco label, Finzy Kontini releases “Cha Cha Cha“, a tropical melody still retaining the Italo Disco sound. And one more big hit on the label of course: “Hey D.J. (Give Me A Lot Of Music)” by B. Rose. Camaro’s Gang release “Fuerza Major” and “Ali Shuffle” while Kano returns to top the charts with a major hit entitled, “Another Life“. An amazing and beautiful song off the amateur Danse Records label is “Come ..r” by Pineapples with Douglas Roop, an American vocalist. This is one of the most beloved Italo songs ever made. Memory Records was on fire with releases led by Hipnosis (“Pulstar” and “Oxygene“) and Baby’s Gang (“Happy Song“). One of their best releases however, was “Don’t Stop Lovin‘” by J.D. Jaber. “Incantations” by G.A.N.G. is another big Italo hit, coming off the Discomagic label. “Let’s Go Out” by Roberto Onofri & Dee Jay Program Band is an extremely obscure song that is now in extreme demand. “Suicidal” and “Anxiety” by Amin Peck become two of the best Italo songs of 1983, showing how much work goes into each song - these 8-10 minute tracks use many instruments and channeled layers, ultimately making Amin Peck still popular today! “Run Away” by International Music System becomes a well known songs as a result of some very deep, dark beats. The year was topped off by a super powerful song called “You … See” by Helicon - using male/female combo vocals, which is uncommon for an Italo song. The Creatures release “Believe In Yourself” making themselves a permanent staple in the Italo Disco as a result of this song. The same thing goes for The Twins and their 2 big songs: “Ballet Dancer” and “Not The Loving Kind“. Righeira released “No Tengo Dinero” and “Vamos A La Playa“, two Italian vocal songs that both topped all charts in Europe. Other big hits in 1983 included, “Young Man” by Nite Lite, “Communicate” by Kirlian Camera, “Voice (In The Night)” by Martinelli, “Hypnotic Tango” by My Mine, and “Magical Body” by Los Angeles T.F. In a category of his own, Den Harrow debuts with “To Meet Me” and “A Taste Of Love” two very nice productions with someone else actually lip-synching these songs for the handsome ‘Den Harrow’ character. Since Den Harrow was a fake name, the question soon became: “Who is Den Harrow?” Was it the same person as Fred Ventura, Joe Yellow, or Albert One? Soon, it was realized that Italo Disco had a whole ‘nother element of mystery created by these sort of scenarios. As the year came to an end, Decadance released “On And On (Fears Keep On)“, an amazing masterpiece that many deejay’s want to have. As 1983 ended, it was obviously clear that Italo Disco was the biggest genre of music in Italian history. Many record labels, big and small, were now releasing hit after hit. Some of the bigger labels began to make waves in Germany, Netherlands, and throughout the rest of Europe (with England as an exception), eventually finding their way to the ZYX label in Germany. This record label was the biggest and baddest label in all of Europe and was known to do a lot of third-party licensing for the German market (which was absolutely huge on disco/dance music!) It was in this year that ZYX had enough songs licensed to their label that one of their producers/deejay’s created 2 short megamixes using Italian disco songs. The mix was named, “Italo Boot Mix Volume 1” and it featured artists such as Mr. Flagio, Time, Doctor’s Cat, Samoa Park, and Brand Image. The mix of course, was a huge success all over Europe and was the first outreach of pure Italian music in new markets. Soon after the first “Italo Boot Mix” was released, everybody in Europe began referring to disco music from Italy as Italo Disco, which is now what the entire genre is known as. One important note to make: The Italo Boot Mix series, which had a total of 16 volumes, 2 mixes apiece, only featured songs licensed to the ZYX label and is clearly not an indicator of the “best Italo Disco” songs - only the best ones that ZYX got a hold of. Many of the best Italo Disco songs never left Italy and are not as well known.

1984

Fockewulf 190 paves the way with “Gitano” and “Body Heat“, two of the most respected Italo songs ever. The Italian men behind Fockewulf 190 wouldn’t stop there - they made one more song using the alius of Frank Tavaglione called “Tumidanda” - one of the most sought after Italo songs ever! The original 12″ features both an English and Italian version, which was very uncommon! Using the voice of Fred Ventura and the production values on Market Records, the Fockewulf 190 group took one more shot in the Italo scene with “Eagles In The Night” by Dario Dell’Aere - becoming another majorly sought after release that almost no DJ can claim he or she owns to this day. Simply put, Fockewulf 190’s four productions were all on limited release in 1984 and have become harder and harder to locate as the years go by - they sell on eBay for hundreds of dollars each. Speaking of the years going by, Fred Ventura has a huge hit with “The Years (Go By)” and it’s featured in an Italo Boot Mix, making it an even bigger hit in Germany. International Music System, release a major party song called “Dancing Therapy“. Memory Records big hits of the year are led by Ken Laszlo’s,”Hey Hey Guy” and “Tonight” and by Cyber People’s “Void Vision” and “Polaris“. The Peecker Melody label, a sub-label of Il Discotto provides 3 huge hits in 1984. They are: “Your Fun” by Modem, “Driving” by Sensitive, and “Running Straight” by Amin Peck. “I Wish” by Bolero became a huge hit all over Europe. One of the biggest hits of the year was “Self Control” by the late Laura Branigan. The song was actually written by an Italian artist who released his version (the original) under the alius of RAF (or RAFF in other markets). Both versions topped every single chart in Europe and at one point both songs held the ..1 and ..2 positions simultaneously in the German music charts. As fantastic as the Laura Branigan version is, it lacks the beautiful male vocals and fantastic rap segment near the end of the song. “Queen Of Discoteque” by Sissy on the Eyes Records label is an amazing song. Also on the label is “Future State” by the same-named artist and also “Firelight” by Ghecko (often mistaken as Checko) - these songs helped make Eyes Records a top Italo label in 1984. On Ram Productions, a sub-label of Discomagic, Ram Band releases “Silent Smiles” and then on the same label, Anthony’s Games releases the same exact song. Same label, a year later, Visions releases “Everybody” and then soon afterwards, Videovision (on the Ra.Re label) releases “Anybody” and Video (on the Fly Records label) releases “Somebody“. The man behind all 3 songs that “coincidently” have similar titles and the same exact synth-hook is Raff Todesco. All this stuff about the same song being released by two or three different artists was quite common in the Italo Disco genre. The most famous would be the song “Souvenir” which was originally released by OMD was then covered by a handful of Italian artists including Nicky & Nicky and Saxophone.

By 1984, Italo Disco was already in its prime with 100’s and 100’s of new songs arriving each month at the local record shops throughout Italy and Europe, particularly Netherlands and Germany, where the genre became an absolute phenomenon. “Clouds” by Angie is a great female Italo hit. “Magic Carillon” by Rose is another female vocal classic, often considered to be the best Italo song ever. Fake debuts with an extremely sexy vintage disco styled song that keeps many elements of Italo Disco. The song is called “Donna Rouge” and is often considered to be the perfect song! Let’s move on to the big hits of 1984. “The Years (Go By” by Fred Ventura becomes a lead track on one of the Italo Boot Mixes and also a top chart hit all over Europe. Il Discotto’s big hit was “Hot Stuff” by Image. Discomagic’s big hit was “Play Boy” by Venise - another amazing female vocal song with a great electro/drum beat combo. However, the big Italo song of 1984 (from a true fans standpoint) would be “Catch” by Sun-La-Shan. ‘Catch Is Sexy’ would become the famous vocals to this song that almost any Italo fan is able to sing along to. Scotch released “Disco Band”, a major arpeggio hit that became a major hit in Germany, actually becoming one of the biggest chart success Italo songs ever! Miko Mission releases two songs in a row, “The World Is You” and “How Old Are You?” which are immediately entered into the history books of Italo Disco music! Without a doubt, it was the synthesizer work that Miko did with these two songs that made them so memorable. Memory Records is led by Ken Laszlo (e.g. “Hey Hey Guy“, “Tonight“) and Cyber People (e.g. “Void Vision“, “Polaris“),

1985

Fantasy Life releases “Over And Over”, considered to be the rarest Italo Disco vinyl ever. The mp3 is quite easy to locate, but it’s the original 12″ record that fetches 600-700 dollars regularly on eBay. What a DJ would do to have this one!!! What wouldn’t a DJ do??? Brand Image returns to the Italo scene in 1985 with “Love In A Summer Night” helping jumpstart the infamous Time Records label. Magika also has a nice hit on Time Records with “I Know Magika”. It should be pointed out that around this time, as Italo Disco became took over the airwaves that suddenly we begin to see a major saturation of the market - 1000’s of releases a year, eventually peaking in 1984 and 1985 with 5,000 major releases each year across 100’s and 100’s of labels. Several things can explain this market saturation: 1) creating an Italo Disco song was very easy, cheap, and trendy, especially for the DJ’s of that time. Everybody was taking a stab at the Italo market; 2) many of the biggest producers from the big labels would start sub-labels and let one major artist head the label and produce literally hundreds of songs in a very short period of time. Often times, one producer would make 100’s of songs a year, and the same vocalists would appear on songs across many sub-labels, being the secret vocalist. Rose, Ken Laszlo, Fred Ventura, Eddy Huntington, Den Harrow, Joe Yellow, and Albert One would become the major contributors to this rapid movement of new songs being produced. For example, “Spanis Run” by Jaco is actually the voice of Ken Laszlo, famous for his smash hit “Hey Hey Guy”. Here we are in 2006 still sorting through productions and trying to figure out who sung and who produced some releases - it’s all quite confusing because the genre was very tightknit yet so quickly evolving. Anyways - 1985 brough many, many big hits. “Forever And A Day” by 93rd Superbowl presents some amazing male vocals, Fake returned with a major smash hit called “Brick” and a b-side called “Another Brick” - a very fine production indeed! “Dial My Number” by R. Bais. “Baby On Fire” by Ottomix & P.K. Siegel.

1986

Italo Disco already past its peak, begins to decline as new genre’s are now surfacing. High Energy music in Germany, fueled by Modern Talking, Bad Boys Blue, C.C. Catch, and Silent Circle is a major dance scene that begins to conquer the charts. At the same time, all the traditional Italo/Euro disco beats begin to sound “old fashioned” when compared to the likes of the new speedy drum machine beats on a TR 808 or 909. Basically, this is when Garage House, Acid House, Chicago House, House, Acid, and any form of the true 130BPM would begin to take over the dance scene. It was all in the planning stages since 1982 when Italo Disco surfaced. We knew the beat would speed up and the bassline would become louder. However, Italo Disco was still not dead! This was the year it finally touched the soil of America - 2 songs actually became minor hits in USA, but were simply thrown into the New Wave genre. The two songs that now have cult status for making it to USA are “Boom Boom Boom (Let’s Go Back To My Room)” by Paul Lekakis and “Tarzan Boy” by Baltimora, which was released in 1985 but became an American hit in 1986. Just like any other dance genre, 1 big European hit always touches every country at least once. With Eurodance it was “Mr. Vain” by Culture Beat. For Italo Dance, it was “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” by Eiffel 65. For trance, it’s Cascada, for techno, its “Sandstorm”, and so forth. The point we are trying to make is that the entire market has just 1 song of many 1000’s shoved in their face. You hear this one song over and over and only wish for more songs like it. Little does anybody in USA know that these songs are just a needle in the haystack. And that’s what “Tarzan Boy” is to Italo Disco! It was around this time that Radiorama became a major player in the Italo scene. They would get their own label and release a major, major song called “Aliens” in the end of 1986. Alan Barry, Aleph, Alphatown, and many other Italo artists start experimenting with a faster BPM. Slowly, but quickly, the BPM begins to speed up into the 130’s, 140’s, and so forth. Time Records becomes the leader in the industry at this point, with A Beat C and Asia Records following right behind. The Italo Boot mixes are now in full popularity in Germany and others parts of Europe that weren’t able to access all the Italo releases. Italo Boot Mixes were megamixes from the ZYX label, featuring 10-15 songs per mix, usually split into 2 parts each. They usually featured the biggest Italo songs of the time and were quite popular in Germany, where many made the top charts for many weeks.

Soon we plan to tell the full history of Italo and expand on the current selections. We mustn’t forget all the powerhouse hits in the rest of Europe at this time. Acid House (AKA Italo House) and Italian Eurodance, as well as Italo Dance are all wonderous genre’s of music we plan to spread the good word about!

Η καλύτερη χρονιά για την Italo Disco μουσική από τη σκοπιά ενός αληθινού εραστή της Italo είναι χωρίς καμία αμφιβολία το 1983! Τόσα χιτς,τόσες μνήμες. Για να ξεκινήσει λοιπόν η ντίσκομπάλλα να γυρίζει και να ξεδιπλώνεται το κουβάρι, η εταιρία Mr.Disco (μια θυγατρική εταιρία της Full Time Records) κυκλοφορεί το «Spacer Woman» από τον Charlie και γίνεται αμέσως κλασικό και το καλύτερο τραγούδι της εταιρίας. Η εταιρία "The House Of Music" κάνει επίσης μερικά κομμάτια με διάφορα αριστουργήματα. Κατ' αρχάς, οι B.W.H. κυκλοφορούν ένα διπλό τραγούδι με τίτλο "Stop" και "Livin' Up", συχνά θεωρημένο για να είναι τα πιό καλά επεξεργασμένα τραγούδια της Italo Disco που έγιναν ποτέ! Τα "Suicidal" and "Anxiety" από την Amin Peck γίνοται δύο από τα καλύτερα τραγούδια της Italo του 1983, δείχνοντας την δουλειά που έγινε στα δύο αυτά τραγούδια! Το "Run Away" από τους International Music System γίνεται επίσης ιδιαίτερα γνωστό. Το έτος ολοκληρώθηκε με ένα έξοχο ισχυρό τραγούδάκι αποκαλούμενο "You ... See" από τους Helicon - χρησιμοποιώντας τα αρσενικά/θηλυκά vocals combo, τα οποία ήταν ασυνήθιστα για ένα τραγούδι Italo. Οι "The Creatures" κυκλοφορούν το "Believe In Yourself" και γίνονται μια μόνιμη βάση στην Italo Disco ως συνέπεια αυτού του τραγουδιού. Το ίδιο συμβαίνει και με τους "Twins" και τις 2 πολύ μεγάλες επιτυχίες τους : "Ballet Dancer" και "Not The Loving Kind".Οι Righeira ηχογραφούν τα "No Tengo Dinero" και "Vamos A La Playa" τα οποία έφτασαν στης πρώτες θέσεις των Ευρωπαϊκών Dance Charts σχεδόν αμέσως. Πολύ μεγάλες επιτυχίες εκείνης της χρονιάς ήταν ακόμα τα , "Young Man"από τους Nite Lite, "Communicate" από τους Kirlian Camera, "Voice (In The Night)" από τους Martinelli, "Hypnotic Tango" από τους My Mine, and "Magical Body" από τους Los Angeles T.F. Σε μια δική δική τους κατηγορία, οι Den Harrow ντεπουτάρουν με τα "To Meet Me" και "A Taste Of Love" δύο πολύ συμπαθητικές παραγωγές με ερμηνευτή το φωτομοντέλλο Manuel Stefano Carry που πραγματικά έδωσαν σε αυτά τα τραγούδια τον όμορφο χαρακτήρα των Den Harrow. Δεδομένου ότι Den Harrow ήταν ένα πλαστό όνομα, η ερώτηση έγινε σύντομα: Ποιός ή ποίοι ήταν ο/οι Den Harrow.Μήπως ήταν το ίδιο πρόσωπο με τον Fred Ventura, τον Joe Yellow, ή τον Albert One; Σύντομα, συνειδητοποιήθηκε ότι η Italo Disco δημιούργησε ένα ολόκληρο στοιχείο μυστηρίου από αυτού του είδους τα σεναρία. Καθώς η χρονιά τελείωνε, οι Decadance κυκλοφορούν το "On And On (Fears Keep On)", ένα καταπληκτικό αριστούργημα που πολλοί d.j's θέλουν να έχουν. Καθώς το 1983 τελείωνε, ήταν προφανώς σαφές ότι Italo Disco ήταν το μεγαλύτερο ύφος της μουσικής στην ιταλική ιστορία. Πολλές νέες εταιρίες , μεγάλες και μικρές, κυκλοφορούσαν το ένα χιτ μετά το άλλο. Μερικές από τις μεγαλύτερες ετικέτες άρχισαν να κάνουν αίσθηση στη Γερμανία, στις Κάτω Χώρες, και σε όλο το υπόλοιπο της Ευρώπης (με την Αγγλία ως εξαίρεση), βρίσκοντας τελικά τον τρόπο τους στην ZYX στη Γερμανία. Αυτή η εταιρεία ήταν η μεγαλύτερη σε όλη Ευρώπη και ήταν γνωστή στο να κάνει πολλή χορήγηση αδειών για τρίτους για τη γερμανική αγορά (που ήταν απολύτως τεράστια στη μουσική discο!) Ήταν αυτή η χρονιά που η ZYX είχε την άδεια για την κυκλοφορία όλο και περισσοτέρων τραγουδιών ώστε ένας από τους παραγωγούς/deejay τουςδημιούργησε 2 σύντομα megamixes που χρησιμοποιούν τα ιταλικά τραγούδια disco. "Italo Boot Mix Volume 1" ονομάστηκε περιείχε καλλιτέχνες όπως οι : Mr. Flagio, Time, Doctor's Cat, Samoa Park,και Brand Image. Το mix φυσικά, ήταν μια τεράστια επιτυχία σ'όλη την Ευρώπη και ήταν το πρώτο ξέσπασμα της καθαρής ιταλικής μουσικής στις νέες αγορές. Λίγο μετά την κυκλοφορία του όλοι στην Ευρώπη άρχισαν να αναφέρονται στη μουσική disco από την Ιταλία σαν Italo Disco. Μια σημαντική σημείωση που κάνει: Να σημειωθεί δε ότι η σειρά "Italo Boot Mix", η οποία είχε συνολικά 16 συνέχειες, 2 mixes ανα σειρά, περιείχε μονάχα τραγούδια τα οποία κυκλοφόρησαν με τηνετικέτα της και δεν αποτελεί τον δέκτη σαν τα " Τhe best Italo Disco" και μόνάχα τα καλύτερα της εταιρείας χρησιμοποιήθηκαν.Πολλά από τα καλύτερα τραγούδια της Italo Disco δεν αποχώρησαν από ποτέ την Ιταλία και δεν είναι ιδιαίτερα γνωστά.

"1984"

Oι Fockewulf 190 προετοιμάζουν το έδαφος με τα "Gitano" και "Body Heat", δύο από τα πιό σεβαστά τραγούδια της Italo όπως πάντα. Τα άτομα πίσω από τους Fockewulf 190 δεν θα σταματούσαν εκεί - έκαναν ένα ακόμα τραγούδι χρησιμοποιώντας το ψευδόνυμο Frank Tavaglione .Το "Tumidanda", ένα από τα αναζητημένα τραγούδια της Italo! Τα αρχικά 12 " είχαν χαρακτηριστικά γνωρίσματα και μια την αγγλική και την ιταλική εκδοχή, η οποία ήταν πολύ ασυνήθιστη! Χρησιμοποιώντας τη φωνή του Fred Ventura και την Market Records, οι Fockewulf 190 έκαναν ακόμα ένα βήμα στην ItaloDisco μαζί με το "Eagles In The Night" από τον Dario Dell'Aere- που γίνεται μια άλλη "ψαγμένη" κυκλοφορία . Απλά και οι 4 κυκλοφορίες τους ήταν σε περορισμένα αντίτυπα την χρονιά εκείνη με αποτέλεσμα να γίνονται λιγότερο επιτυχείς στην αναζήτηση καθώς τα χρόνια περνούν - πωλούνται στο eBay για εκατοντάδες δολαρίων και € η κάθε μια. Μιλώντας για τα έτη που περνούν, ο Fred Ventura έχει ένα τεράστιο χιτ με το "The Years (Go By)" και έχει συμπεριληφθεί στην σειρά των "Italo Boot Mixes", που το κάνει το ένα ακόμα μεγαλύτερο χιτ στη Γερμανία. Οι Ιnternational Music System, κυκλοφορούν ένα ακρως χορευτικό τραγούδι,το "Dancing Therapy"..Τα μεγάλα χιτ της Memory Records εκείνη την εποχή αποτελούσαν τα ,"Hey Hey Guy" and "Tonight" του Ken Laszlo και τα "Void Vision" and "Polaris""Your Fun" από τους Modem, "Driving" από τους Sensitive, and "Running Straight" από την Αmin Peck.. Το "I Wish" από τους Bolero έγινε ένα τεράστιο χιτ απ'άκρη σ'άκρη στην Ευρώπη. Μία από τις μεγαλύτερς επιτυχίες της χρονιάς ήταν "Self Control" από την αείμνηστη Laura Branigan. Το τραγούδι γράφτηκε πραγματικά από έναν ιταλιό καλλιτέχνη που κυκλοφόρησε την δικιά του έκδοσή(την αρχική) κάτω από το ψευδώνυμο RAF (ή RAFF σε άλλες αγορές). Και οι δύο εκδόσεις έπιασαν την κορυφή στα charts της Ευρώπης και σε κάποια στιγμή είχαν και τα δύο τις θέσεις 1 και 2 ταυτόχρονα στα γερμανικά charts.
Το "Queen Of Discoteque" από την Sissy με την ετικέτα της Eyes Records ήταν ένα ακόμα αριστουργημα. Μία ακόμα επιτυχία της Eyes Records ηταν το "Future State" από τον ομόνυμο καλλιτέχνη και ακόμα το "Firelight" από τον Ghecko (που συχνά τον αποκαλούσαν λανθασμένα Checko). Τα τραγούδια αυτά την βοήθησαν να γίνει μία κορυφαία ετικέτα στην Italo το 1984. Στην Ram Productions, μιία θυγατρική της Discomagic οι Ram Band κυκλοφορούν το "Silent Smiles" και έπειτα στην ίδια ετικέτα, οι Anthony's Games κυκλοφορούν το ίδιο ακριβές τραγούδι. Με την ίδια ετικέτα, ένα χρόνο αργότερα, οι Visions κυκλοφορούν το "Everybody"και λίγο αργότερα οι Videovision (στην Ra.Re) κυκλοφορούν το "Anybody" και οι Video (στην Fly Records) κυκλοφορούν το "Somebody". Το άτομο πίσω από τα 3 τραγούδια που έχει τους παρόμοιους τίτλους και τον ίδια περίπου μουσική είναι ο Raff Todesco. Όλο αυτό το σκηνικό δηλαδή σχεδόν το ίδιο τραγούδι να κυκλοφορεί από δύο ή τρεις διαφορετικούς καλλιτέχνες ήταν αρκετά κοινό στο ύφος της Italo Disco. Το πιο γνωστό τραγούδι εκείνη την εποχή ήταν το "Souvenir" που κυκλοφόρησε αρχικά από τους OMD κυκλοφόρησε λίγο αργότερα από μερικούς καλλιτέχνες όπως οι Nicky & Nicky and οι Saxophone.
Μέχρι το 1984, η Italo Disco ήταν ήδη στην ακμή της με αμέτρητες νέες κυκλοφορίες (η μία μετά την άλλη) φθάνοντας κάθε μήνα στα δισκάδικα σε όλη την Ιταλία και την Ευρώπη, και ιδιαίτερα στις Κάτω Χώρες και την Γερμανία, όπου το στύλ αυτό έγινε ένα το απόλυτο φαινόμενο. Το "Clouds" από την Angie ήταν ένα υπέροχο γυναικείο Italo τραγουδάκι. Ακόμα το "Magic Carillon""Donna Rouge" και θεωρείται αρκετά συχνά το τέλειο τραγούδι! Ας περάσουμε όμως στα απόλυτα χίτ του 1984. "The Years (Go By)" από τον Fred Ventura γίνεται ένα από τα πιό κλασσικά τραγούδια της σειράς Italo Boot Mix και επίσης ένα από τα κορυφαία στα chart της Ευρώπης και όχι μόνο. Το μεγάλο χιτ της IL Discotto ήταν το "Hot Stuff" από τους Image.. Η μεγάλη επιτυχία της Discomagic ήταν το "Play Boy" από την Venise Ένα απο τα ομολογουμένως κλασσικά τραγούδια ήταν και το "Catch" από τους Sun-La-Shan.Οι Scotch κυκλοφορούν το "Disco Band",τραγούδι που θα αποτελέσει μία πολύ μεγάλη επιτυχία στα dance chats της Γερμανίας και ίσως το απόλυτο τραγούδι των charts στην Ευρώπη και όχι μόνο για την ItaloDisco! Ο Miko Mission κυκλοφορεί στην σειρά δύο ίσως από τα κλασικότερα των κλασσικότερων της ItaloDiscο μουσικής σκηνής. "The World Is You" και το "How Old Are You?" από τους Cyber People. The Peecker Melody label, μια θυγατρική εταιρία της της Il Discotto δίνει 3 μεγάλα χιτ το 1984.Είναι τα : από την Rose ήταν ένα ακόμα γυναικείο κλασσικό άσμα και συχνά αναφέρεται σαν ένα από τα πιό κλασσικά Ιταλάδικα άσματα.Τα Οι Fake δίνουν στο κοινό της ItaloDisco ένα ακόμα κλασσικό χιτ το τραγούδια που αμέσως μπήκαν στα ιστορικά βιβλία της ItaloDisco! Χωρίς αμφιβολία ήταν η δουλειά των συνθεσάϊζερς που έκανε τον Miko τόσο αλησμόνευτο.

"1985"

Οι Fantasy Life κυκλοφορούν το "Over And Over", το οποίο θεωρείται σαν το σπανιότερο βινύλιο της Italo Disco. Ο Brand Image επιστρέφει στην ItaloDisco σκηνή με το "Love In A Summer Night".Η Magika έχει επίσης το υπέροχο χιτ "I know Magika". Πρέπει να επισημάνω πως γύρω σε αυτήν την περίοδο, καθώς η Italo Disco ανέλαβε τα σκήπτρα της μουσικής βιομηχανίας ξαφνικά αρχίζουμε να βλέπουμε έναν σημαντικό κορεσμό της αγοράς.Με χιλιάδες κυκλοφορίας κάθε χρόνο,οξύνοντας τελικά το 1984 και το 1985 με 5.000 σημαντικές κυκλοφορίες. Διάφορα πράγματα μπορούν να εξηγήσουν αυτόν τον κορεσμό της αγοράς: 1) η δημιουργία ενός τραγουδιού ItaloDisco ήταν πολύ εύκολη, φτηνή, και καθιέρωνε τη μόδα, ειδικά για τους DJ's εκείνης της εποχής. 2) πολλοί από τους μεγαλύτερους παραγωγούς από τις μεγάλες εταιρείες δίσκων θα άρχιζαν τις θυγατρικές και θα άφηναν ένα σημαντικό καλλιτεχνη να ηγηθεί της εταιρείας και θα παρήγαν κυριολεκτικά τις εκατοντάδες των τραγουδιών σε μια πολύ μικρή χρονική περίοδο. Πολλάκις, ένας παραγωγός θα έκανε εκατοντάδες τραγουδιών ετησίως, οι ίδιοι καλλιτέχνες θα εμφανίζονταν "σαν μυστικοί ερμηνευτές/ριες" στα τραγούδια σε πολλές θυγατρικές εταιρείες. Η Rose, ο Ken Laszlo, ο Fred Ventura, ο Eddy Huntington, οι Den Harrow, ο Joe Yellow, και ο Albert One σύντομα θα γινόταν οι σημαντικότεροι συνεισφέροντες σε αυτήν την γρήγορη μετακίνηση της παραγωγής των νέων τραγουδιών. Παραδείγματος χάριν, το "Spanish Run" από τον Jaco είναι στην πραγματικότητα η φωνή του Ken Laszlo, γνωστού για την επιτυχία του "Hey Hey Guy". Εδώ το 2009 ακόμα ταξινομούμε μέσω των παραγωγών και προσπαθούμε να υπολογίσουμε ποιός τραγουδάει ποιό και ποιού είναι η δημιουργία. Εν κατακλείδει το 1985 έφερε αρκετές μεγάλες επιτυχίες. Το "Forever And A Day""Brick" και στην πίσω μεριά του maxi single (flipside) το "Another Brick". Αξίζει όμως να γίνει μνεία και στα "Dial My Number" του Romano Bais, καθώς και στο "Baby's On Fire" από τους Ottomix και P.K. Siegel. από τους 93rd Super Bowl παρουσιάζει μερικά υπέροχα αντρικά φωνητικά, ενω οι Fake επιστρέφουν με ένα ακόμα μεγάλο χιτ.Το

"1986"

Η ItaloDisco ήδη μετά από την αιχμή της, αρχίζει σταδιακά να μειώνεται δεδομένου ότι ένα νέο ύφος εμφανίζεται τώρα. Η High Energy ή Euro Disco μουσική στη Γερμανία, που ξεκινάει με τρανταχτά και δυνατά ονόματα όπως των : Modern Talking, Bad Boys Blue, C.C. Catch, Silent Circle , Fancy κ.α μια σημαντική χορευτική μουσική που αρχίζει να κατακτά τα charts. Συγχρόνως, η παραδοσιακή ItaloDisco αρχίζει να γίνεται «ντεμοντέ» όταν συγκρθεί με της νέας τεχνολογίας drum machines.Βασικά, τότε είναι που η Garage House, Acid House, Chicago House, House, Acid, και τα άλλα είδη των 130 bpm άρχιζαν να κατακτούν την χορευτική σκηνή. Εντούτοις,η Italo Disco δεν ήταν ακόμα μακρυνό παρελθόν. Αυτή ήταν η χρονιά που άγγιξε τελικά το "έδαφος" της Αμερικής,με δύο τραγούδια που έγιναν πραγματικά μικρότερα χιτ στις ΗΠΑ, τα "Boom Boom Boom (Let's Go Back To My Room)" από τον Paul Lekakis και το "Tarzan Boy" από τον Baltimora το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε μεν το 1985 αλλά έγινε χιτ το 1986. Σαν κάθε μουσικό είδος,ένα μεγάλο Ευρωπαϊκό χιτ γίνεται μία φορά τουλάχιστον επιτυχία σε κάθε χώρα.Με την Eurodance ήταν το "Mr. Vain" από τους Culture Beat.Για την Italo Dance, ήταν το "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" από τους Eiffel 65.Ήταν εκείνη την περίοδο που οι Radiorama μπήκαν στο παιχνίδι και έγιναν οι "μεγάλοι παίχτες" στην Italo σκηνή.Είχαν την δικιά τους ετικέτα και κυκλοφόρησαν ένα πολύ πολύ μεγάλο χιτ.Το "Aliens" στα τέλη του 1986.Οι Alan Barry, Aleph, Alphatown, και πολοί άλλοι καλλιτέχνες της Italο ξεκίνησαν να πειραματίζονται με γρηγορότερα bpm (Beat Per Minute). Αργά αλλά σχετικά γρήγορα τα ξεκίνησαν να ανεβαίνουν στα 130,στα 140 και ακόμη γρηγορότερα.
Η Time Records έγινε ο ηγέτης στην βιομηχανία σε αυτό το σημείο μαζί με τις A Beat C και Asia Records να ακολουθούν αμέσως μετά. Τα "Italo Boot mixes" είναι τώρα σε πλήρη διασημότητα στην Γερμανία, και σε άλλα μέρη της Ευρώπης που δεν μπορούσαν να έχουν πρόσβαση σε κάθε νέα κυκλοφορία της Italo.

Soundtracks Ταινιών του '80

Από την αρχή κιόλας των κινηματογραφικών ταινιών, η μουσική τους επένδυση αποτελούσε πάντα ένα σημείο αναφοράς και πολλές φορές έκανε τη διαφορά και έδινε μια ξεχωριστή νότα ακόμα και σε ένα κατά τ’άλλα ασήμαντο φιλμ. Μέχρι τη δεκαετία του 50,η μουσική των ταινιών περιοριζόταν σε ορχηστρικά κομμάτια, μέχρι που το κλασσικό rock n roll τραγούδι Rock around the clock, επένδυσε τη «Ζούγκλα του μαυροπίνακα», μια ταινία με θέμα το ρατσισμό. Από τότε κύλισε πολύ νερό στο αυλάκι και μεγάλες προσωπικότητες της διεθνούς μουσικής σκηνής έγραψαν μουσική και τραγούδια για ταινίες, κυρίως παραγωγές του Χόλιγουντ. Στα τέλη των 70’s, οι Bee Gees και οι Blondie, με το Saturday night fever και το American Gigolo αντίστοιχα, άνοιξαν τον δρόμο για την εκπληκτική πορεία που θα είχαν τα soundtracks την δεκαετία του ’80.Τεράστιες επιτυχίες, έκαναν ακόμα και ταινιούλες της σειράς να μνημονεύονται ακόμα και σήμερα. Κοιτάζοντας πίσω,είναι δύσκολο να πιστέψουμε ότι είμαστε ακόμα ζωντανοί.
Tαξιδεύαμε με αυτοκίνητα χωρίς ζώνες ασφαλείας, σε φιατάκια με 5 και 6 άτομα και είμασταν μιά χαρά δεν είχαν αερόσακους ηλεκτρικές ηλιοροφές και ABS - EPD - ESP κτλ κτλ . . .
Παίζαμε «μακριά γαϊδούρα» και κανείς μας δεν έπαθε κήλη ή εξάρθρωση τότε δεν υπήρχαν κινητά για να μας ψάξουνε,και ήμασταν ελεύθεροι.
Ανοίγανε κεφάλια όταν παίζαμε πόλεμο με πέτρες και ξύλα και δεν έτρεχε τίποτα.
Τρώγαμε γλυκά και πίναμε αναψυκτικά, αλλά δεν ήμασταν παχύσαρκοι.
Δεν είχαμε Nintendo 64, Xbox ή Wii PS 1, 2, 3 iPhones, και κινητά που έκαναν παπάδες...99 τηλεοπτικά κανάλια, ή NOVA,ταινίες σε DVD με ήχο surround ή 5+1, υπολογιστές ή Ιnternet..
Χάσαμε χιλιάδες μπάλες ποδοσφαίρου,ενώ η καλύτερη στιγμή στο παιχνίδι μας ήταν όταν βρίσκαμε τις ποταπές και ταπεινές πλαστικές μπάλες ποδοσφαίρου.(οι δερμάτινες ήταν απαγορευμένο είδος και διακαής πόθος [ένεκα του οικονομικού φυσικά]) και ξεκινήσαμε να μαθαίνουμε μπάλα με μικρές πέτρες και πλαστικά κουτιά εμφιαλομένων πορτοκαλάδων γεμισμένα με χώμα.
Πίναμε νερό κατευθείαν από τη βρύση, όχι εμφιαλωμένο,
Θεέ μου! περνούσαμε ατέλειωτες ώρες στην παραλία χωρίς αντιηλιακή κρέμα με δείκτη προστασίας 30!!!!
Ρίχναμε τα κορίτσια κυνηγώντας τα για να τους βάλουμε χέρι,όχι πιάνοντας κουβέντα σε κάποιο chat room και γράφοντας brb - afk - cu - cya ; ) : D : P
Είχαμε ελευθερία, αποτυχία, επιτυχία και υπευθυνότητα και μέσα από όλα αυτά, μάθαμε και ωριμάσαμε.
Δεν θα πρέπει να μας παραξενεύει που τα σημερινά παιδιά είναι κακομαθημένα και χαζοχαρούμενα.
Οι disco's δεν θα ξαναγυρίσουν.
Τώρα μάθαμε στα "ορθάδικα" και άμα χορεύεις με τον κολλητό σου θα σε περάσουνε για "αδερφή".
Ευχαριστώ τον ΘΕΟ μέσα από την καρδιά μου που με αξίωσε να ζήσω εκείνα τα μαγευτικά και μοναδικά χρόνια...

Band Aid 20 (2004)

The Band Aid 20 single was first played simultaneously on the Chris Moyles show on BBC Radio One and the breakfast shows on Virgin and Capital radio at 8am on 16 November 2004. The video was first broadcast in the UK simultaneously over multiple channels, including the five UK terrestrial channels, at 5.55pm on 18 November 2004, with an introduction by Madonna.

British Artist Damien Hirst designed a cover for the Band Aid 20 single, featuring the grim reaper and a starving African child. However this was later dropped after fears that it might scare children. The single was released on 29 November 2004 and all money raised goes toward famine relief in the Darfur region of Sudan.

One of the new ways to buy the song by downloading it from the Internet hit a problem when Apple computer's iTunes initially refused to supply it due to their fixed pricing policy. A partial solution was reached after a few days enabling UK users to download the song at the standard iTunes price, with Apple donating an extra amount (equivalent to the price difference) to the Band Aid Trust.

The CD version sold over 200,000 copies in the first week to become the fastest-selling single of the year.

Bono, Paul McCartney and George Michael were the only artists asked back who lent their voices to the original Band Aid. There was a reported dispute over the line Tonight thank God it's them instead of you which Bono sang on the original version. Justin Hawkins of The Darkness laid down a version of the line but Bono insisted on re-recording his version, which was eventually used on the record. Strangely, although he wasn't invited, Blur's frontman and songwriter Damon Albarn appeared at the sessions, wanting to assist however he can the recording process of the charity single. He wasn't allowed to sing but Bono advised him how to be most useful for the singers. "I asked him to make the tea," the U2 frontman explained to Xfm, "I saw him on Thursday night. He said 'I don't know what to do' I said, 'Make tea,' he said 'You really think so?' I said, 'Yeah, make tea!'." Albarn quite happily responded and thus served biscuits and tea for the participants as well as appeared briefly in the video, at which Bono "fatherly" commented: "Good on him. I always knew that boy would turn out good in the end."

The single sold 72,000 copies in the first 24 hours after release, and went straight in at number one in the UK charts on 5 December 2004. It stayed at number 1 for Christmas and the week after, all in all holding onto the top spot for four weeks, just one week shorter than the original did in 1984.

Band Aid II

Bob Geldof gets on the phone to 'The Pop Music Phenominon', producer Pete Waterman and asks him if he'd consider trying to put together a new version of the Band Aid hit single Do They Know It's Christmas? featuring the current crop of pop stars, to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia.

Geldofs thinking was 'If anyone can put a record together at breakneck speed, it's him.'
This phone call took place on Friday 1st December 1989. Waterman, incredibly, immediately cancels his wedding planned for that day and attacks the phone, working his way down the current charts to see who's available. 48 hours later, on Sunday 3rd December, the studio (PWL Studios in South London) was alive with activity. Mick Stock and Matt Aitken started to lay down the backing track. Waterman arrived soon after, followed by an amazing array of current pop talent including: Kylie Minogue, Bananarama, Cliff Richard, Big Fun, Sonia, The Pasadeneas, Lisa Stansfield, Wet Wet Wet, Bros, and Jason Donovan.

Geldof arrives with Paula Yates and a young Fifi Trixiebelle, who is dying to meet Jason Donovan. The problem Geldof explained 'is it's the same song, the same time of year, and the only thing that has changed is the faces in British pop music.' Geldof was there to see how things were going and lend moral support, insisting 'It's all down to Pete Waterman now.' The recording was now in full swing.

The following day, Monday 4th December, Stock, Aitken & Waterman were back in PWL to finish mixing and putting the re-vamped version into some sort of shape. Throughout the day, Waterman in a very Geldofesque style put the business end of the project together, ensuring the record gets into the shops as quickly as possible whilst incurring the minimum costs, so as much as humanly possible goes to famine relief.

Next day, Tuesday 5th December, Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid II, gets its first play on London's Capital Radio. Advance sales of the record reached 500,000, virtually guaranteeing it would chart at number one.

On Monday 11th December, the record is officially released and as expected goes straight into the number one position.

Το εν λόγω τραγούδι του Paul V κατά κόσμον γνωστού ως Paul Voudouris υπάρχει μέσα στο LP με τον τίτλο "In the movies" και κυκλοφόρησε το 1984.

Για τον Paul (Πατέρας Αμερικάνος, Μητέρα Ελληνίδα) έγραψαν :
